Winners of „Aasta Ehitusprojekt 2019“, organised by the associations of the building sector and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, were announced on November 27 at the conference Ehitus 2020+ in Cinamon Kosmos, Tallinn. The winners of the competition, organised by the Estonian Association of Architectural and Consulting Engineering Companies, were Maakri quarter in the category of buildings and the Memorial to the Victims of Communism in the category of structures.

The creators of the architectural solution of the Maakri quarter, architects from ARS Projekt and Merko Ehitus Eesti, have stated that the success of a project this size lies in excellent collaboration between all parties.

The authors of the Memorial to the Victims of Communism, awarded best structure, are JVR architects, Ninja Stuudio and Stuudio Truus. The structure is unique and multilayered, combining the work of different specialties into a detailed whole.

The special prize by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, “Best Digital Innovation Project 2019” was awarded to T1 mall by Merko Ehitus Eesti.

A total of 24 projects, 15 in the category of buildings and 9 in the category of structures were nominated for „Aasta Ehitusprojekt 2019“.

The final round comprised of three nominees in the category of buildings: Haven Kakumäe yacht club (MARU Ehitus, KAMP Arhitektid), Maakri quarter and T1 mall (Merko Ehitus, Novarc Group).

The nominees in the category of structures were the south part of Tallinn Old City Harbour (K-Projekt), the Memorial to the Victims of Communism and Valgesoo view tower (Esplan).
